Super Dark Times

Just some random movie I stumbled upon on Netflix. Loved it. 'Super Dark' for sure is a great title, cause this movie is dark and twisted as hell. Donnie Darko esque meets revenge-movie meets something even more twisted.

A Simple Favor

Fairly predictable but I enjoyed it for what it is.

Sounds interesting, gonna check it out soon.

Apparently Bird Box came out on there, supposed to be similar to A Quiet Place except they cant see. Sounds pretty decent

Agreed - simple favor

Bird box was a very different kind of book
The movie, although it was well made and had some excellent actors/actresses is was not a good movie. I don't really know why the movie is recieving so much praise. I watched it last night and was entertained, but i wouldn't classify it as a good.

Finally some spare time to watch some movies...

The Meg - Garbage, wasted budget and potential for a cheesy/trashy and fun action movie.
Sicario 2 - Realy liked it. Great actors and atmosphere. Soundtrack was awesome.
Predator (The new one ) - Garbage, could have been good and had some shining moments but overall just realy shitty
Mandy - Nic Cage at his best. Very stylistic, awesome atmosphere and visuals paired with a nice soundtrack. Still exhausting though and has a realy slow pace.
Calibre - For a Netflix production not that bad. Decent thriller, nothing special but overall enjoyable to watch.

Bad Times at the El Royale - I felt like there were some wasted opportunities here and there, but with that ever present Tarantinoesque feel to it, strong performances from absolutely everybody, and a hectic/interesting story, I found myself fixated and constantly guessing about what would happen next. I can see how this wouldn't be people's cup of tea, it's certainly off-putting at times, but I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed it. If nothing else, movies (even ones trying their damn best not to be) are generally predictable as fuck for me, but this one kept me guessing for a good portion. During the last act it's pretty cut and dry, but up until that point, you're going to be scratching your head trying to figure out what the actual fuck is going on, or just enjoying the ride. I'm giving this an 8.75/10, and I would and will recommend.

Sicario: Day of the Solado - Man... this one kind of pissed me off. The whole thing felt pointless.... The first Sicario had me sitting on the edge of my seat from start to finish. It was incredibly tense and an amazing movie throughout. I was completely invested in every major character, what they were doing, what was going to happen to them, etc...., but this sequel was just fucking boring. It's been a few weeks, so I forget exactly when it got boring, but they sell this concept of sending in an unleashed Del Toro to absolutely butt fuck the cartel, and then they spend the next hour with some babysitting bullshit, a shock and awe shooting, and just anticlimactic bullshit after anticlimactic bullshit. The performances were amazing, cinematography was on point, the soundtrack wasn't bad (iirc, again, been a few weeks), and everything but that weak ass story was solid. Highest I can give it is a 6/10 as I think it's still worth watching, I just hope others lower their expectations and don't let the first half or however long trick you into thinking it's going to have a strong close, it doesn't and maybe it'll be less disappointing if others know that going in.

Fantastic beasts 2: meh more of the same. Like 1? Probably like 2. Also Leta is super hot so that's basically what got me through it.

Bird box: not bad, no idea where are these "so scared I couldn't watch" or "so stressful I had to take multiple breaks" reviews came from. They are all bs. It isn't really scary, not even that suspenseful either. They ruined what could have been suspenseful moments by trying to be artsy with the editing.

Idea was neat, though they didn't really take advantage of a lot of the lore/rules they set up in the movie about the creatures. I mean the movie is called fucking Bird box, but they never actually use it. They have a box of birds and the birds freak out when the creatures get close. Yet they wear blindfolds 24/7 outside. Like you set up the idea, why not use it? Bird perimeter or like carry them with you and if they aren't going crazy then you don't need a blindfold.

Also some of the parts are confusing because like... Can the creatures hurt you or not? Because they act like they don't really physically interact but then they run like the creatures could kill them. Really inconsistent with that.

Overall I'd probably rate it lower than a quiet place, but Sandra Bullock acts the shit out of anyone in both movies. She is fantastic in Bird box.

A Star is born - Overall pretty good. Great actors, good music performances, decent drama. Liked it.

Under the silver lake - Wannabe weird mystery drama. Got bored, story is a mess, tried too hard but failed. Was garbage

The Night eats the World - Pretty good zombie movie. Liked the slow pace and the few intense scenes realy hooked me. Interesting spin on a standard movie genre.

Fahrenheit 11/9 - You know what you get if you watch a Michael Moor Documentary. He shoves his opinion down your throat without giving you the full picture. But those films are pretty entertaining to watch. I enjoyed it, gave me insight in a few topics I wasn't aware of. But overall it's just an anti Trump movie. If you know what you get and are able to reflect the information presented to you you can have a fun time with this one.

Bad Times at El Royale - Realy loved it. Great acting, very interesting story. You always want to know what happens next. Great movie.

Aquaman - Standard superhero movie, nothing more to say about it.

Incredibles 2 - Well made, fun movie. I realy enjoyed watching it but in my opinion it lacks some emotional depth other Pixar movies had.

Mission Impossible: Fallout - Now thats what I call an action movie. Kudos to Tom Cruise who pulled of some amazing stunts. Some cool action sequenzes that will stick with you. Realy enjoyed it.

Bird Box, it was okay. Nothing I'd recommend. A Quiet Place was definitely the superior concept.

Never really been a fan of Bullock though and didn't do much for me here, either.
