that was one of the most pleasantly surprising movies ive seen in a while. i didnt know anything about it other than i guess there was some hype i didnt look into, downloaded it one day and wasnt expecting much, was glued to it from start to finished with the music blasting

I'm glad you enjoyed that movie :)

anyway...

Inside Man (2006)
7/10 -- I love Denzel's act in this movie, the story is good, but the ending wasn't quite I expected

King Arthur
I realy was in the mood to watch a manly action movie and this is exactly what I got. Very stylized, some funny jokes, a good amount of action and overall an interesting fantasy setting. The "Zack Snyder Slow Mow Cam" was overused but at least it's now shaky cam. Story is pretty "meh" though. Friend of mine said he didn't like it because he wasn't involved in the story nor felt attached to any of these characters, me neither. Would recommend it, solid action movie with a nice setting, visit the cinema if you can since it has some nice looking shots.

Life

Expected more from such a strong cast. But I guess casing can't fix one of the most idiotic screenplays ever written.

6.5/10 acting/casting
5/10 visuals (the cgi monster was really noticable)
1/10 script (gets a point for the first ~15 minutes, turns to pure trash after, and not even funny trash)

The Korean Movie

Homo Faber
Read the book and wanted to watch the movie adapation. Feels like a completely different story. Not that good though, slow and boring and missing critical points of the novel. Some good looking shots, especially in the desert, and Julie Delpy is nice to look at but that's about it.

Went a bit of a movie spree yesterday and today, watched these all since around 6pm yesterday lol.

Get Out - 9-9.5/10 - Phenomenal, see my other post if you want details.

Kong - 7 - 7.5/10 - I had low expectations for this film. I enjoyed the direction they went, and besides Larson, I thought everyone had good-strong performances. I love John Goodman, Samuel L. Jackson played his angry black man role perfectly, John C. Reily was hit or miss, being funny at times and annoying at others. Hiddleston had a boring roll, but he played it well. Shea Whigham was probably the best thing about the film, reminded me of Tig from Son's of Anarchy, kind of a similar character. Most of the random support cast did at least an okay job.

XXX Return of Xander Cage - 4 - 4.5/10 - Was exactly what I expected. This one might have actually been better than the first two, but that's not saying very much. Donnie Yen and Tony Jaa were absolutely horrible in this. I'm a bit of a nut when it comes to Kung fu and these are two of my all time favorites for the genre, I'll watch anything with either of them. Also, the comedic relief tech girl, had to have been one of the best examples of what not to do with that role. I literally face-palmed at one point because of how horrendous her character was... just bad bad bad writing. Typical action blockbuster though, I somewhat enjoy these films, even though they're horribly predictable, corny and just for the most part a snooze fest. If you like Fast and the Furious, you'll love this, it's the exact same fucking thing.

Bad Santa 2 - 2.5/10 - Bad Santa without everything that made it funny. I don't think I got a single chuckle out of the film.

Resident Evil The Final Chapter - 2/10 - Another just fucking awful installment in the franchise. I hope they take another whack at this series sometime in the future, and maybe next time they won't completely shit the fucking bed. It was like they were trying to make each and every one of these worse than the previous. Seems almost impossible with how fucking bad they were, but somehow, someway, they keep pulling it off. Hopefully it's actually done now for real.

Underworld - 1/10 - Pretty much the exact same as the above, but somehow even worse.

Going to watch Hail Ceasar or Ghostbusters next, haven't decided. Low expectations for both ofc.

I'm looking for more recommendations for films to watch from this year or last year that are now available online. I'm a bit behind on current films and I've got a lot of shitty/good movies to watch to catch up. Feel free to recommend anything, but if it's an artsy, high-rated, Oscar worthy piece of shit that's neither original, thought provoking or even moderately enjoyable, I'll probably skip it. - La La Land, Moonlight, Manchester by the Sea etc... I'll get around to watching these eventually, but I'll be surprised if I don't hate all of them

I know, I know, I hate most things, but as you can tell from the list I've posted above, I'm not above watching things that are completely fucking awful to kill time on a lazy weekend :P .

Just seen it in the movie theatre. Had high expectations since everyone hypes the shit out of this one. I thought it was horrible mediocre. Not good, not bad, just a movie that exists.

Feel the same way
