Are you part of the cast or something, or do you just defend this show to such an extent for shits and giggles on an internet forum?

Selena Gomez and other producers and cast members said this was about suicide and about wanting to stop it. You keep acting like it doesn't matter and they are wrong about their own show

I watched it, and the aftershow.

I don't care what Gomez says. The show is about bullying. They will only say it's about suicide because that's the result and more terrifying action.

It's literally common sense.

Suicidal=result of bullying
The show is about bullying
Without bullying, there was no suicide.

It's literally like a simple math equation.

Idk about you but when I make shows about bullying I add characters who nonchalantly bully other characters and never mention it at all, then focus on the girl who is sexually harassed and assaulted because imo that is bullying and not a felony/crime. Also the best anti-bullying method ever is to have exactly zero consequences for the bullies. Yep that's my plan. Good anti-bullying message don't you agree?

Okay wow, I mean I knew you were stupid but I am just realizing the extent...
Not only are you the biggest idiot on this forum you are also the biggest asshole, congrats on taking both from that jadewhatever guy with a single post. That would be impressive if it wasn't so sad.

Do you ever read the news? There are literally stories happening daily where people who are "bullies" in school get away with it because the school is too afraid to do anything about it. That's what this show is targeting.

The show isn't mending the personal issues people have. It's not trying to do that at all and it never was. That's what you want this show to do.

Literally the show is trying to open up conversation for society to stop being rude, disrespectful assholes and have more consideration for how other's feel.

Not sure where you're getting at with the second part. It's literally common sense. Calling me a bunch of names for no reason because you can't understand simple concepts is just plain silly.

If Hannah was not bullied, she would not have committed suicide. Thus, one can easily conclude that suicide was the RESULT of her being bullied/harassed/raped.

There are more people who get bullied that don't commit suicide than do. Most suicides in the world don't happen because of bullying. You are very short sighted with extremely flawed logic and frankly it is getting embarrassing.

Suicide is usually a result of a few different things, bullying can be a catalyst but it usually isn't the core reasoning. Not to mention none of the reasons she killed herself in the show were bullying. That's like a giant thing that you refuse to acknowledge.

Never once did I say that everyone who is bullied commits suicide. That's a horrible assumption and I didn't even insinuate that at all.

I've been using the term bullying in replace of harassment and everything else she has been through. Revert back to all of my comments in this thread to see those specific instances.

You can't use bullying as a blanket term. That just makes the problem worse.

I can use a blanket term. Cry about it.

Look up the definition of bully, even a rapist can be defined as a bully.

I've already typed like 6 novels in this thread, it's not my fault you can't keep up.

A. If Hannah wasn't harassed, bullied, sexually abused or raped.
B. She would not have committed suicide.

You don't know that at all. Her parents were always fighting about money. A guy made advances on her which was not harassment or bullying as he stopped when she said to, as he said he thought she was easy(dick move but not wrong) nonetheless it scarred her which caused her to push Clay away. Then she convinced her parents to trust her and fucked it up while at the same time making the previously mentioned money issues worse.

There were a lot of non-bullying non-harassment related issues that along with the harassment and rape and mild bullying lead her down a path. And this isn't even bringing mental health into the situation.

And no, you definitely shouldn't use blanket terms, especially the way you are. How would you like it if your daughter was raped? Would you say "ah its just bullying, suspend him from school for a few days that sounds like a fitting punishment for bullying". Or would you then think of it as criminal? Cmon hypocrite, give an answer.

I don't think the show is predominantly about suicide either, without being disrespectful towards those of you who think otherwise.

It's called "13 reasons why" for a reason though - and we get detailed explanations as to why she did what she did. So that's the focus of the show, the "why".

Actions, no matter whether they're either horrific (rape) or perceived as mild (rumour spreading) - all have consequences!

If nothing this show raises awareness to this, the "why" - the fact there are massive problems that go ignored for many people until it's too late.

The show isn't sending the message "people commit suicide" - this isn't a revolutionary concept, i mean we all know people take their own lives.
