Barbarian Invasions.

This film right here represent the archetype for contemporary French drama-com, I can't believe it won an Oscar. Shallow characters, no real depth, needless namedropping and the entire thing was extremely unfunny.

France seems to make a quadrillion of these a year and they're all shit.

Chronicle (2012)

I've been planning to watch this ever since it became a meme on this sf... 4 years later I finally did it.

My first impressions of this movie were pretty bad. I hate movies that have the cameramen moving the camera around like in typical "found footage" movies... they often make me dizzy, like car sick. It wasn't too bad in this movie though, so I was ok. Also, the movie seemed pretty stupid and uninteresting to me... at first. Then it picks up around 20 minutes in when they get their powers and begin exploring them. I think it was really interesting the way the characters develop with them. The last 20 minutes were a bit meh imo, but I enjoyed the movie over all and I think it's a fresh and interesting take on the superpower genre.

Pets

Meh, some nice animations but overall it's a kids movie that doesn't offer anything interesting for "grown ups".

Hector And The Search For Happiness (2014)

Ok-ish, but not good to be honest. It's cute and has some nice moments, but it's also pretty silly, cliché and too innocent. It did entertain me for two hours, so that's that, but the movie could be improved in many ways.

Damn I was hyped for this one, even went to the cinema at release in Germany.
I expected something like Walter Mitty (which I absolutely loved!) or Into the Wild, something that depicts the beauty of the earth and the cultures living on it.
Hugely dissapointed, just a flat romantic comedy. Pretty sad since it could have been so much more.
