It honestly surprised me; I don't mean I was expecting something sub-par - the other 2 are good films in their own right - but I was expecting something more or less the same. Midnight surpassed those 2 in in terms of depth of characterization (see the excellent hotel scene) and both actors elevated their performances.

I also watched Clouds of Sils Maria (2014), which shares somewhat of a kinship to Cassavetes' own Opening Night - Opening Night-lite, if you will - but lacks the depth of that film's central character. It's a good, solid little film, mostly due to the acting of Binoche.

ye was expecting something pretty stale but not bad really nice surprise

should see more assayas and the rest cassavetes
carlos maybe next
thought summer hours was excellent when it came! and demonlover is interesting

Mission To Moscow (1943)

Interesting from a historical perspective, as it's rare and ironic to see how Hollywood made a pro-soviet propaganda movie (it was in the middle of WWII, and the US government wanted to make their nazi-fighting allies look good so that the american people would support their military cooperation), but it's pretty lame over all. Even when leaving aside the fact that the level of pro-soviet propaganda in this movie is as ridulous as the one in many of the anti-soviet Hollywood films that came in the following decades, the story is weak, the dialogues are cheesy and it's pretty boring over all. It gets some extra points as a historical rarity, but that's it.

Audition

Jesus Christ what a piece of shit.
90 min of mindnumbingly dull and awful drama which turns into a Lynch tribute and then some torture porn to top it off.

Fuck this film, 1 / 10

La muerte de un burócrata (1966)

cuban black comedy
"The film is dedicated to Luis Bunuel, Oliver Hardy, Stan Laurel, Ingmar Bergman, Harold Lloyd, Akira Kurosawa, Orson Welles, Juan Carlos Tabio, Elia Kazan, Buster Keaton, Jean Vigo, Marilyn Monroe and all those who, in one way or another, have taken part in the film industry since the days of Lumiere."
so a dissapointment - at times it looked nice (35mm) but well shot parts were wery rare and just mildly funny in couple - few parts
dream sequences were pretty similar to andalusian dog and l'âge d'or so that was highlight
went to see it with family and to my surprise they liked it a lot more than i did lol

Kaspar Hauser - Jeder für sich und Gott gegen alle

Pretty decent, not as memorable as other Werner Herzog movies though.
