Jean Gabine and Simone Simon I really like, I might check out that French film ^^

Best film i've seen in over a year, keep thinking about it. ^ Gotta love dardenne, all of their films are worth watching

Been watching lots of shorts from 1890s and 1900s but not much worth mentioning

Rosetta you mean? yeah it was fantastic. It does everything right, the lack of dialogue, the camerawork, the lack of music, the ambiguity.
One of it's strongest features is the fact that the main character isn't charismatic or likeable which makes it seem more genuine.

I've only seen one other Dardennes (Two days, one night) but Rosetta was much much better. Looking forward to watching more films by them!

Yea and yea. Have you seen / do you like mouchette btw? Pretty great and vaguely related
In dardenne top-3 with Le Fils and La Promesse, Two days is my least liked

I haven't
When I first started getting into the French New Wawe I watched like one film by most of the famous directors and the Bresson film I watched Pickpocket was 2deep4me at the time so I watched the relevant Godard, Truffaut, Malle, Chabrol etc films instead. Pickpocket is still the only Bresson I've seen.
However, since I'm running out of films to watch by the directors I like the most I've been thinking about rewatching Pickpocket and then watch some other stuff from Bresson so there's a decent chance I'll be watching Mouchette pretty soon :)

Quite ashamed to say this but I just watched 'A Few Good Men' for the first time.

Courtroom scene with Tom vs Jack was electric. Wasn't remotely as good as I thought it would be.

Cool :) Been such a long time since saw Pickpocket that forgot almost all of it, just remember thinking it was great/really great but not the best place to start from him. I really like his style (and his somewhat modern equivalent Bruno Dumonts) Definitely in french top tier, seen 8 and like them all. Can't say the same about all Godards seen though he's way more profilic. Chabrol i've seen the least so should be watching those, just seen La Cérémonie (really liked) and Le Boucher (liked)
