Why do you say that?
I think it has a thorough portrayal as far as sexuality, you have the military dad's repressed homosexuality, the sexual tensions in a long-term relationship between Lester and his wife, the exaggerated sexuality (i.e. the exaggerated importance people -- particularly the youth -- put on having sexual success), etc.
Office Space's advantage, in my opinion, is that it doesn't take itself as seriously as American Beauty does, at least not in my opinion, I just think American Beauty accomplishes a lot more and I really love Spacey in that role, it was reminiscent of Fight Club without any surrealistic whatnot going on.
Because for me the parts of the film that work best are the dysfunctional families and Spaceys strife to reinvent himself, the hot blonde dosen't act well at all and her character is a walking stereotype ie not interesting. Whenever she's onscreen i'm bored so I think the execution was better in other areas of the film.
The unconvential beauty theme with the weird stoner works way better I think.
