. Appeals to the casuals but spits in the face of hardcore fans

What defines a hardcore fan?

I absolutely loved the original trilogy and can't even count how many times I've watched them. Does that make me a hardcore fan?

I don't really want to define it, but I'd consider myself hardcore fan.

Watched the originals 100 times each , not joking when I was in elementary school I'd come home and watch one every day. Watched the prequels a bunch. Played most of the games etc.

I just haven't read the books but I've read enough starwars wikia to have a enough understanding of most of the star wars universe.

I'd define the casual as the person who has seen the originals once or twice and maybe hasn't even seen all the prequels. Or if they have only once. I think that's who enjoyed this movie the most.

As someone who could be considered a hardcore fan I think you are an idiot.

Epi7 was a soft reboot and it worked very well. It is a movie that casual/non fans could enjoy and had enough of the magic of the original trilogy for hardcore fans to enjoy it.

They may have put in a few too many nods to the fans in the movie, but it didn't hurt anything... Like at all, and to get upset over them and be like "this movie sucks it has too much fan service" is completely childish.

Overall the movie has a good story, likeable characters and enough of the original to feel like a star wars movie.

If they don't into darkness epi8 then 7-9 will be a very good addition to the universe. Much better than all the shitty fucking "oh the emperor is still alive, oh tricked you no he isn't, or did we?" Books that came out.

I think that hurts you judgement of the movie.

I watched it without researching random wiki shit that was never mentioned in the movies. I watched it knowing only what the previous movies wanted me to know and that's how the movie should be interpreted.

I think he's an idiot too. He keeps changing his angle as soon as someone points something out that highlights how silly he's being. He ignores responses and then takes others comments as his own the next time he's trying to make a point.

I'm a hardcore fan (not a fucking competition though) I don't need to brag about it or assume my opinion on something star wars related is gospel just because I'm mad about the franchise.

I loved this movie.
