I hope that's the case bc I would prefer the books to be finished before the series. However, it wouldn't be a huge downer for me if that wasn't the case. I just recall reading a lot on fan forums mentioning the idea that the producers wouldn't be surprised if the show surpassed the books especially since Martin seemed to have hit a big wall.

I'd argue episode 9 will beat out Dexter's season 4. I was devasted and it was a great, though depressing, way to end things. I feel if I build up GoT s3 ep9 though folks may have the surprise spoiled. If you're a book reader, well you know then. If not, I doubt anyone will see it coming.

Depressing? The most hated character on the show was killed off in an epic way that would forever change the show as well as the main character. Rejoices could be heard round the fucking world.

You hated his wife? My girlfriend did too. But from just looking at season 4 alone, all I saw her do was bust her ass raising kids while Dexter lied about being fucking sick. Lol

Oh and she gets the shaft. Because of Dexter basically, so sad.

... Sick is a relative term for someone who wipes out the scum of the earth that the dumbass police/legal system in this day and age is too fucked up to handle themselves...

Haha, comparing Dexter to The Wire is like comparing a McDonalds happy meal to a five star steakhouse. Dexter is just fun entertainment to watch, but its writers will never even touch the echelon of brilliance in the writing in The Wire.

Anyway, back to the topic.

I like how they slipped in that Cersei speech about the Rains of Castamere song. In a way, it's meant to set the tone for the next episode.
