You seem to think I don't enjoy the show. I love the show. The only difference is that I know when I'm being strung along for $$$...

Hope you're right.

Jesus fucking Christ you know the series follows written books though? They don't make it up as they go along man.

That's the fucking point... The seasons are being written faster than the books...

You're saying there's a point but I'm not sure a lot of us are understanding what it is? Yeah the series is being written faster than the books. If anything they could be slowing things down much more and really stringing us along but tbh I think they are flying through the books.

Well, if they are, then one of two things are going to happen... They are gonna hit a wall, and there won't be any new materiel to use. (How do you stop a series for years perhaps? Just to ensure they continue with continuity.) Or, they end the series very poorly and half-assed.

What do you mean by "written faster"?

You mean that the since a new season is released every year whereas a book is not, the series will catch the book?
Are do you mean that the pace of the story is faster in the show because they have to cover a 1,216 page novel in under 10 hours of screen time?

I believe the idea was always that the show will overtake the books bc they realized it was inevitable. The author already gave important plot points to the producers in case he happens to die or not finish the books. They'll never hit a wall. They are just going to go on using his notes for the overall shaping of the series. Even though that would result in some differences between the books and the show, Martin already said it's kind of nice since viewers will still be getting the story, but bookreaders will get some new/different material as well.

Where did you hear this? That would really suck, IMO, and I would probably stop watching the show until the book was released and I can read it first. I really like the show, but I'd hate for it to spoil the series for me. And I'll bet there are a bunch like me. Even if we give in and eventually watch the series, it would still mean that we didn't watch it on its air date, which would hurt the ratings.

Damn it George... get writing.

Just from various interviews with Martin on the web. I personally don't mind. The books are laced with so much rich detail and intricacies in the story that I'd still enjoy it after the show.

I think he's really scared to finish the series and that's why he's having trouble getting back to it. He said he didn't want it the ending to be a huge disappointment like Lost.

Not at all. The books will be faster now that the Meereenese knot has been solved, which was the reason ADWD (and AFFC) took longer. Estimates so far are TWOW in 2014/2015 and ADOS in 2018/2019.

TV show would be 2014 ASOS pt 2, 2015 AFFC/ADWD S1, 2016 AFFC/ADWD S2, maybe a S3 for AFFC/ADWD and then 1 or two seasons for TWOW. Should leave time to adapt ADOS.

It's not a big deal if the show overtakes the books, but I don't think it's very likely.
