I post here because the show, books and comics interest me, so I figured other people that like the show might enjoy them as well.

How did Hershell and his family cook? Did they have gas still? Wood stove? Electrical stove connected to Generators? A windmill?

It's a farm most likely windmill powered or a wood cooking stove.

AMC announced The Walking Dead Season 3 Preview Weekend which kicks off a two-day marathon featuring all 19 episodes from the series first two seasons. This will culminate with a Talking Dead live primetime special, followed by the world television premiere of the black and white version of The Walking Dead pilot (a truer representation of Robert Kirkman's original comic, first seen on the Blu-ray for the series).

Each episode will be introduced by Nerdist's Chris Hardwick, who will be hosting from the set of Season 3 in Atlanta, offering viewers a sneak peek at what's to come. There will be sit-down interviews with the cast and exclusive behind-the-scenes footage interspersed throughout the marathon. Additionally, we'll also get to see our first look at Season 3, including a new scene from the upcoming season.

The Walking Dead Preview Weekend airs Saturday, July 7 and Sunday, July 8 beginning at 11:30am each day, and The Talking Dead special will begin on Sunday at 9pm.
