Even in early GoT, it had insane dialogue even if not much was happening to develop the plot.

This show doesn’t have that. Not even close. It’s characters are way more vanilla, at least at this point in time.

The whole plot of the book, that this show is based on, is about the war that starts (The Dance of the Dragons) because of the issues between the male heir and female heir. This show probably will never be your cup of tea, because the whole plot is based around that premise. More or less.

Hmmm I don’t even remember Sansa feeling disrespected because she was a girl. She was a dumb little bitch and she always played the maiden in distress after putting herself in dumb positions.

Arya didn’t give a fuck if she was respected or not. She just did what she had to do. She even pretended to be a boy for half the show lol. Brienne was quite similar to Arya about not caring. She was even quoted to say something along the lines she just kept beating the boys who did disrespect her.

But yeah Danaerys definitely was pissed off she wasn’t respected more as a woman

During the episode the King finally commanded his daughter marry her cousin, Daemon was banished after proposing a marriage to his niece, the King fired his Hand, Rhanerya fucked her personal bodyguard, and it was revealed the Queen hates her life. All of them are huge catalysts for future conflicts and war yet idiots think nothing happened. That is why I take these critiques of it being a slow paced with no plot development with a grain of salt. It is a slow burn building up to an exitong climax and each episode has added to the fire.

It isn't as good as classic GoT but season 1 was also by far the weakest of the first 5. It didn't really catch stride until episode 9 of season 1 when all the build up came to a huge moment. Every single GoT season was just buildup to the final 2 episodes.

I never said it was horrible. It was solid. But the first four episodes really weren't any better than the first four of HotD. GoT never picked up steam really until season 4 in terms of viewership so a lot of people went into it with a bias that the show was good. They in turn decided to actually let the show slow burn instead of freaking out thinking it is slow with no action or that the plot is moving too slow.....or saying characters made dumb decisions which a lot of GoT characters did.

It's pretty obvious why kimmy really likes Game of thrones.

The first 4 episodes of GoT are sooo much better it’s not close. FWIW I have just watched them today for comparisons sake.

Admittedly, I was one of the people who were late to GoT, tuning in around season 3 (from memory), but I’ve become a big lore nerd since.

You’re undervaluing season 1 I think. There is so much brilliant dialogue spoken in the first few episodes, as well as some great character building moments. HOTD hasn’t really had any of this thus far.
