It isn't bad storytelling. You may not like the story but it isn't bad storytelling. Whether storytelling is done well or not isn't really opinion based. Whether you like the story or not is opinion based.

And the "mass majority of the internet" thing isn't exactly true. The movie is extent polarizing yes but the hate vs like balance isn't as off tilt as you seem to think.

For example it has been proven that review sites like RT are getting review bombed by bots to down voted tlj. So the 40% or whatever it is at is extremely inaccurate.

Plus the petition to remake epi8 only has like 5k signatures so... Clearly not a lot of traction there.

If the story was supposed to be about snoke then yes killing him like that without offering any explanation of his past and then switching focus to Kylo would have been bad storytelling, but the movies were NEVER about snoke. He is a mcguffin.

Like imagine he is the briefcase in pulp fiction. You never see what is inside the briefcase because it doesn't fucking matter.

hey blah look at this

Omg a website that lives on trying to have an accurate review score doesn't admit there is a problem with their system, fucking shocking. Also I don't really care about review sites. Also I don't really care that the movie isn't doing well. I don't think the movie is that great (as I've said multiple times).

Not bad, not good. Horrible storytelling meandering about aimlessly leaving us wanting and more doubtful than ever before.

Here's to hope.

I still think it is the 2nd best movie in the franchise.

Luke was fine, actually. The tlj and tfa, actually explains luke’s actions.

I think people are caught up with Lukes character in legends. I personally think his character in this trilogy makes a lot more sense than his legends character.

He was a young man before he got jedi training and he never finished his training. In legends he becomes the best jedi ever, makes no sense with his background. Especially considering we know that if jedi training isn't started super early on then the people are less likely to be able to follow the jedi code.

Hamill thinks of Luke as a pure Jedi which is why he doesn't understand why Luke would give up and hermit, the writers clearly see Luke as someone who never got proper training, then completely broke after the traumatic events with Kylo. Honestly I understand Lukes character in the new trilogy a lot.

He saw a little light in his father and nearly died twice trying to save him, yet the first sign of darkness and he cracks? Yeah, okay.

The original trilogy he was never able to let go. He didn't listen to yoda and complete his training because he couldn't let go. I think it is perfectly reasonable to assume that having one of his students turn to the dark side and kill/turn every single one of his students and burn down his temple would cause extreme emotional trauma to Luke.
