Let's see, last night I watched:
The Third Man (1949, I think) -- Loved the style of the movie but found the plot to be kind of weak. The last 15 minutes or so are awesome but it was pretty slow leading up to it, probably doesn't deserve the credit it deserves.
Repulsion (1965) -- Very risque movie for such an early release date. This is another one I feel like I need to see again to truly appreciate but it is another one with tremendous style. Doesn't hurt that the lead actress is gorgeous.
Just finished Black Swan (2010) and ultimately I am blown away by Natalie Portman's acting. I have a huge amount of respect for her as an actress after reading a little bit about her film selection and how she seems to roll in general. Looking at the numbers I am even more blown away -- approximately 13 million dollars to make this film and it grosses over 300 million! Those are some vintage horror numbers. The subject matter here, ballet and whatnot, isn't my cup of tea and I thought they overused the whole "you think A is happening but actually B happens instead" device, right up to the final scene, but it's a pretty solid movie. I liked the director's earlier film, The Wrestler, much more and I think the main character of that one just has you pulling for him more than this one and is a better tragic hero than this one's.
Of course, I can understand the other side suggesting Portman's is better.
EDIT -- I may overdose on films, lol, I watched 5 last night and intend on watching at least one more tonight. Gotta put a dent into my "Films I Haven't Watched" folder even though I keep finding new ones to get :/
