For starters some of the characters in the show are not in the texts. And the ones that are in the texts are portrayed/act different than the ones in the show.

that was the only option tbh that they had to make the show. if it was only book characters they'd have only had 1 season of source material. the books dont give a full narrative story like they later did in LOTR.

the biggest issue i have is not including Celeborn. Galadriel's character could have been changed as they have and it wouldnt bother me, but we literally see her later with her husband, whom she's supposed to be with now, but inexplicitly isnt.

Galadriel arguably the most powerful elven sorceress in whole of Middle earth goes around with a sword like a common soldier beating up orcs... Being mage is not woke, must prove that women can get the job done with muscles..

God damn woke soys and their "message"

It’s not Harry Potter, they don’t use magic like that. It’s like you’ve never watched LotT or something

All spell casters used magic to fight. Only gandalf used to duel wielded a staff and a sword. And only when he ran out of mana. Every other caster from saruman, galadriel to Radagast and Beorn used their respective magic.

Pretty sure you haven't watched LOTR.

Not to mention they didn't have the rights to the Silmarillion

Even better would be if they made galadriel as a side character and given a non cannon role as a lead. That way they wouldn't fuck up the lore as much.

One of the most glaring issues nobody talks about is how the show attempts to humanize the other non-human races.

They try to humanize the elves, well they're not human they're elves.
again they try to humanize the dwarves, uhh they're dwarves and not humans.

I strongly oppose anthropomorphization in all forms.
I however understand it's natural for a human to do this so they can learn about the world around them.

Primitive writing.

There's very little text of people using magic to fight. im not sure youve read the books.

Is it normal to hate the movies after reading the books cuz I didnt experience that at all. Certain parts were glossed over or skipped or overemphasized but nothing so egregious that it ruined the movies for me.

Also I'm gonna go ahead and point out that in the whole LOTR triology there isnt a single black person (as far as I noticed). So by extension Sauron rose to power while there were black people and his evil was only fully vanquished once there were no more black people. Lmao.

I don't think it is "normal", but there were plenty of reasons to hate it if you were only concerned about loyalty to the books. There were pretty significant character changes to Aragon, Faramir, and Denethor for instance. The removal of Tom Bombadil, Sacking of the Shire, the use of the army of the dead, Frodo sending Sam home...

There were also quite a few minor changes that don't seem to serve much purpose. For instance, in the books Gandalf is pushing for them to go through Moria and Aragon is the one heavily opposed, but in the movies they reversed the roles.
