Just watched episode 1. It's pretty heartbreaking and very expertly constructed to be so. The interactions between clay and Hannah, the small smiles and camera trickery. Almost as well crafted as Grave of the fireflies to make you feel. Only it doesn't really feel quite natural enough tbh.

Also I'm not sure at the moment what the message is supposed to be.

Antibullying or antisuicide? Something else?

I hope you continue it and watch the whole thing.

As I've said, the message of the show is to show how bullying of all types can negatively harm someone. Suicide, in this case, was a result.

The way they wrote and edited (the first episode at least) was very hopeful making you want the to characters to be happy at the end and together in whatever form (friends, couple, whatever) and only briefly reminding you that could never happen every so often. It is pretty manipulating.

I think character development in the show was strong, but it's dark, and certainly doesn't have a happy ending.

The Synopsis of the show pretty much hints that it's not a happy show.

Yeah, but I mean they do a good job forcing you into wanting one then pulling it away.

Because it's not natural at all, but coming from a certain narrative that is pushed by ideologues who have managed to permeate their ill ideas through academia and media and it's creating alot of crap. Kids aren't going to be able to deal with reality when they increasingly become sheltered from it. Instead of trying to mindcontroll the entire population into one way, better give these kids 'tools' to deal with some of the uglier sides of humanity as a whole. You can't expect human nature to change that fast, nor does culture get imposed like that.

I am 28, and a lot of members on this forum are in their 20s and 30s.

The fact that you can't take serious issues in society seriously is frightening.

Cuz the place which certain discussions take place matter more than the topic of those discussions.

Not my point at all.
