tbh i think they were chasing eachother and by running too fast, they accidentally opened a time rift (much like in batman the brave and the bold)
The theory is actually based on an animation where the storyline was when he went back in time to save his mom, when he got there, zoom was there, and they fought, he did manage to save his mom
and time changed, "The Flash" returned to his time, but, everything had changed completely, where Batman was not Bruce Wayne, but Bruces' father, it was Bruce that died, also, Superman was not found by
the "Clarkes", and was locked away and tested on... now, zoom still existed, but no one knew who he was even there... also, Flash did not have his power, the Batman of that time had to re-construct the circumstances
when Barry got his powers... and yay... he finally got it back... but zoom had locked out Flashes capability to time travel... so Batman and Flash had to find him and kill him to stop the destruction of the world in that
time paradox. At the end of it, Flash had to go back in time to stop him from saving his mother from dying.
