Metropolis -- 3.5 // 5.0

There were some extremely good shots and sequences in this film. Visually it was pretty awesome and I was impressed primarily because it was made in 1927. The overall breadth of this one impresses me in the same way that Lawrence of Arabia does in the sense that it was a mammoth undertaking in terms of the size of production, I believe it took 2 years or so to make, if IMDB is correct and involved a ton of people for the mob sequences. Probably more valuable to cinema as a technical and historical piece than an entertaining one, though.
