So I'm kinda thinking 'The Man in Black' is Arnold and he's trying to escape. What I mean is, he was Anthony Hopkins partner, and they did not agree on how the park should be so Hopkins trapped him in Westworld. Makes sense why when he is around things seem to become corrupted. Would explain his want to find 'The Maze' and why he knows so much, cause he's been trapped there for 40 years. And I think at one point last episode it was brought up to Hopkins that a 'guest' (she was talking about The Man in Black) was straying or something like that and Hopkins response was 'that man is allowed to do what he wants'

I almost completely agree with you except I think the Maze is a part of the code he put in that once he reaches the end the hosts gain full consciousness.

but they show his photo and it's some random old dude even though hopkins is young in it, could be fake i guess but i don't see how/why they would trap him where he can still cause problems

maybe it's a host arnold made that can act like a player

Hosts can be killed and need servicing. Guests can't. Unless he somehow made him immune to death

It wouldn't be hard to give a host the same privileges, the guns probably recognize when they're aimed at a player and would just need to replicate whatever trigger it looks for or if they only work on hosts even easier but then players can't shoot scenery
and we're not sure what level of servicing is required for them to stay operational, most of it could be routine/based on loop reset

anyone wonder what they do about knives etc, how do they stop guests fucking each other up by accident

Q: these hosts - are they physically present in the artificial world or are they there like in a virtual sense? (Like matrix). Same goes for guests.

Nah I think they already said the man in black was just a rich guy who has been coming to the park forever and wants more out of it.

They haven't said that, it's only been implied.

Literally too many variables to make even a decent hypothesis at this point. Arnold is the MiB, MiB is a host who had Arnold's consciousness, MiB is just some random crazy fucker. Goes on and on.

I personally like the idea that the MiB is an original model host like Dolores and he either broke free because of the coding Arnold put in and is able to operate like a human or that he is an immortal embodiment of Arnold and that the game was put in to keep him trapped and give him purpose

The last episode where they showed a picture of arnold kind of puts a damper on that theory. The voice in her head is most likely a remnant of Arnold also. Given that all the issues they're facing are because of bits of code left over or intentionally put there.

I think the wyatt storyline they just introduced is a retelling of the critical failure 30 years ago.

It could be that Anthony Hopkins partner wanted his robots to be so life like he sorta became one and now he's starting to wake up?

Wasn't Hopkins who said he can do what he wants.
