I don't think the mother of the original family was the original witch. she's called the "original witch" because she's part of the "original vampire" family.

and it does seem like werewolves pre-date vampires.

The " original witch " turned her family to be able to fend off the ware wolfs attacks did she not? i'm almost 100% that's why she conjured that spell or curse whatever way you look at it.
I'm pretty sure the wolfs and the witches are the Original people with magical properties.

yes that is why she conjured that spell. people died from wolf attacks.

No... if you were paying attention she made her family vampires cause she couldn't handle the taught of them dying... But the werewolves attacks were maybe the trigger.

oh my, latest episode was wicked, kept me on my toes the whole time. Rebekah is a fucking babe. So now its been revealed that the sexy doctor is the one that's been killing everybody. We still don't know what happened to Katherine, and the obvious question is, would Alaric survive. This show is picking up quick
