Yes they can. Lower the budget on the action scenes.

Maybe you could have done a better job than the showrunners, but I doubt it. IMO, The amount of screen time it would have taken to build the dramatic scenes like they had in S1 would only have been possible IF there was a S10 that they were building towards. But since the show had to end fairly soon, they are pigeon-holded into a more strightforward plot structure.

The pieces in Westeros have to get moved to where they are going to be when the story ends. They don't have time to show Baelish dilly-dallying playing one Lord against the other. It's more important to get Jaime into a position where it's believable that he will kill Cersei. That is a long journey requiring a lot of screentime.

The difference between s1-s6 and s7 is identical to the difference between wheel of time books written by Robert Jordan and the last 2? written by Sanderson. It's a combination of all character storylines converging and the script be written of a point form summary of what is supposed to happpen.

But did the show have to end soon?

Such nitpicking on what will end up being one of the best TV shows of all time.

No show is perfect and GoT is part of the rule not the exception.

The show is great.
It's just a discussion.

Aw yeah. Well with Sanderson it was kind of understandable, as he was literally finishing up a dead guy's stories, so you had to forgive him for some rushed stuff (and his awful Mat). But I actually really like the Sanderson end to that series. He did much better than I expected. GoT I still like, but the whole plot to kidnap a zombie still makes no sense, and ended up a disaster, and you just know it was written to create some action sequences for tv (that were admittedly pretty great)... but it still made zero sense, and sort of betrayed the story so far. Like everyone suddenly risking their lives on the belief that Cersei is a rational human being. Something literally everyone knows is wrong, but chose to forget I guess.

I agree. I'm enjoying reading everyone's observations and criticisms/likes. Part of what makes this show so addicting and enjoyable is the discussion afterwords.

Agree 100% , I liked the finish of wot. It was obvious Jordans spiderwebs of story was spiralling out of control and the finish was complete and in character just without 12 new characters introduced per book.
got script is written by TV producers with no where near the imagination or ability of a writer like Sanderson. And I believe they wrote themselves into some corners earlier like merging Sansa with jeyne Poole/ over playing Ramsays character , and leaving Jamie in kings landing far too long. These things added to the story in previous seasons but now there's really only 3 locations to focus on so they can't just cut to what's happening somewhere else till next episode.
They had to invent a new reason for Jamie to abandon cersei since they choose not to do it over her trial. I agree a plot to capture a walker and then walk into kings landing without cersei killing them is ridiculous and completely out of character for her. I hope the book has a more realistic way of giving nk a dragon.

the book wouldn't need a stupid dragon to destroy the wall, the wall will go down with 1 blow into the horns of winter. read the book and dont get tangle up with tv series

Possibly, but in the books its existence isn't confirmed, and if it has been found Sam is likely the one with it. And if it does exist whether it can bring down the wall isn't confirmed either, that's just what the wildings believe/hope. A dragon for the nightking seems very likely to me to be a grrm approved aspect that he will incorporate in the books.
