yeah, invite michael bay too while you're at it, when he microwaves some microchips, the kitchen explodes, good for ratings!!!!!
we have a lot of very gory, actionpacked disgust and outrage generating series out there. Why create another one? I personally like that toning it down a bit like they did in this series, generates a bigger focus on the story and the little details that make you wonder what the fuck is going on.
As for your comments about the action, I am not sure what you are referencing. I never suggested the show should have more action. I hate Michael Bay and I agree that more action would not help the show at all.
To your bolded statement, I disagree that there is some inverse relationship between 'mature content' and detailed storytelling. HBO has the least censorship around and many of its shows are incredibly well crafted with intricate plot and details.
Few examples where I think the show could have been more compelling if less censored:
* The Fernando Vera character is great, but he doesn't inspire the same fear as Tuco did in BB. His performance could be felt more effectively by the audience if his violence had been more graphic.
* When Tywell came home and his wife wanted him to tie her up on the bed. It made no sense for her to be fully clothed, but it had to be that way cuz of the censors. We got the gist, but it would be better if we could see how 'intense' this couple is
* When Eliot discovered the dead body in the trunk, on-screen shots of the body were sparse. It would have had a bigger emotional impact on viewers if images were more in their face (think of Oberyn's death in GOT, perfect example of how an uncomfortably high level of gore heightens the viewing experience)
