And I suppose not everyone is infected? For example S2 E1 Carl comes across a deceased man in a truck with the tools in his hand. That man had no brain injuries and was clearly dead and was not a zombie. So going by what you have told me, most people are already infected, but not everybody?

And if it is carried under the nails and in the saliva, and people are essentially already infected, why aren't they turning into zombies? You don't have to die to become a zombie, just have to be bitten to catch the virus, but if they are essentially already infected...

In one of robert's interviews.

In the comic, you reveal that unless you were shot in the head, anyone who died eventually became a zombie. Is that the case with the show as well?
Robert: That remains to be seen. So you'll just have to tune in.

So unless they're deviating completely from that point, which I have yet to see any implications of such. It's safe to assume that they're going to follow the same concept as the comic.
Which is everything I already mentioned. If they were going to deviate and make the blood cause infection. Rick and Glenn would've already been infected from completely smearing their bodies with the dismembered zombie's blood and entrails. As would've anyone who has killed a zombie and had blood splatter on them.

Not necessarily, it would only be likely in the had a cut through their skin in-order for zombie blood into their blood stream. When Rick and Glen smeared zombie blood/organs on themselves, it was pretty much only on their clothing. And what you're saying is that, the old man in the truck from S2 E1 will eventually turn to a zombie? Because when Carl grabs the tools, that nigga dead.

You do realize that you can absorb an infection through the pores in your skin, right? Their clothes were saturated and their skin have been covered in zombie blood. They have been face splattered with blood throughout the show.
It's safe to assume that the blood isn't going to do anything to shane given that practically every character has had zombie blood on them at one point, hell rick was covered in three zombies as he shot them, he had a cut too not to mention they were both bloodied by the fight.

There was an entire road full of cars with corpses in them that didn't turn, if you notice, majority of them sustained a head wound or gunshots to the chest or were in a car that was in an accident, so other injuries could've taken place.
Either they starved to death and robbed whatever it is of that essential spark needed to start up the body, or they offed them self. It's all just speculation.
They were also buckled in, so they could've turned and then eventually died from now being able to get any fresh flesh. More speculation.

The already infected from the initial outbreak also supports why the world was overrun so quickly.

Also in the last episode that aired, they're alluding to the same premise that is in the comics with the two security guard zombies that were dead with no bites on them.

Again, this is all speculation but in the walking dead universe based on the comic, they follow the romero rules. Blood and other fluids aren't what carry the infection, the bites and the scratches do and even people who were never touched by a zombie have died and come back as zombies.

Some pictures I came across looking things up about the show. The source of these images is unknown.
Let's hope these don't come to pass.

I think the virus is airborne no? I was wondering why rick and shane were cutting themselves anyways with blood from the zombies.

Had to be airborne to spread as quickly as it did. In the comic, they didn't realize that dying without a bite resulted in a zombie until they got to the prison.
The prison is the next step chronologically after the farm in the comic, whether they follow that in the show is anyone's guess.
Rick actually went back to check on shane and found him turned in the grave. So he shot him in the head and left him to rot.

Done volume 1 of the comic. SO AWESOME. Bought volume's 2 and 3. Great stuff. Ending of volume 1 is completely different from the TV show...unless I'm forgetting what happened in season 1 of the show already lol.
