I don't think it was a good idea to fuck up lex, but as a huge DC fan I can say the movie delivered. The DC animated film universe is so much better than anything marvel has done, and that is because they really closely follow the comics. I wish they would just use the source material for the live action.
But I also think most people missed a lot in BvS that made the movie make a lot of sense because they prejudged it before actually seeing it.
That's what irritates me the most though. DC is far superior when it comes to animated film/tv etc... always have been imo, the only Marvel one that even compared for me as a kid was X-Men. But that's the thing, they do this amazing shit by sticking to the source material, creating great heroes and villains with great depth, and then they do this... they spend the most money on a film ever and they're way too concerned with creating epic CGI spectacles and advertising for the Justice League, instead of just creating a solid movie that doesn't heavily rely on gimmicks. Just frustrating. I've loved DC and Marvel since I was a kid, they've both had different aspects that greatly appealed to me. Even as a kid, DC wasn't afraid to go dark, the Batman animated series had some pretty dark stuff in it for a Y-7 show, their films (V, Watchmen, Dark Knight) have all been dark and gritty without relying on huge CGI spectacles to carry the film 70% of the time. Just seems lazy to me. I know Marvel is guilty of the same shit, that's why over half the movies they've done have been garbage. If these companies would wait until after the movie to advertise for the next movie, that'd be fucking great and I think it'd help a lot.
