Just like the new Bill and Ted, right? That was a story that NEEDED to be told. I particularly liked when they took a massive shit on the original movies, that was great.

The new Bill and Ted was fun. Those two girls did such perfect impressions of young bill and young ted.

I mean, they fucking nailed that portion and it had it's moments, but you can't possibly say it was needed lol. It also did take a GIANT shit on the original movies.

Nothing is ever needed. I thought it was fun and what else is there to ask for? It was significantly better than other throw back movies we have been getting. Like Ghostbusters 2016 and afterlife.

It might not have been as good as the first one, but at least they knew what they were doing. Unlike people who keep trying to remake Ghostbusters without understanding the movie.

I have different judgement scales when I think about movies, and ones like Bill and Ted fall on the least harsh scale. It was made to be fun and I had fun. Mission accomplished.

Matrix 4 won't be on that scale though, it's trying to do something so it will be judged more harshly, as it should be.

If you have seen the first one... the rest is just garbage.

Shit you said the same thing on the previous page.

Oh... btw... the humor is rancid after the first Bill n Ted excellent adventure blah, blah.

The instigator for my comment was that Keanu wouldn’t be doing a shameless cash grab relaunch if it wasn’t a story that “needed” to be told. I was simply pointing out that the last time a series of his early days was brought back, that it wasn’t needed, not even remotely, and that it crucified the source material of the original films.

I agree that being a fun/silly series gives it additional leeway that I wouldn’t grant otherwise, but the notion that Keanu is this artistic purest is utter nonsense. I know he’s one of those most beloved celebrities on the internet right now, but the guy is a fairly mediocre actor who takes whatever well paying gig is handed to him. I enjoy a lot of his movies, but I’m fully against how people blindly build up celebrities and their projects as more or deeper than what they truly are.

I hope to fuck I’m wrong about this film. I hope it comes out and absolutely blows me and everyone else away, but I’m having an increasingly difficult time believing it’ll be anything other than an awful cash grab or soapbox.

E: I already called it earlier, but I want to restate that I’m positive the movie will be mediocre at best, but people would have still loved it. The problem though, which I can almost guarantee, is that a handful of things perceived as far left propaganda will be put through out this film, whether it’s just a trans person being in it or whatever, and people will absolutely lose their fucking minds over that. Then no one will talk about the actual faults or positives in the film and I’ll be annoyed like with the last hundred movies/shows where idiots on both sides make it impossible to have a discussion.

I've never heard Keanu called an artistic purist. He just seems like genuinely a humble and nice guy. Unless he is hiding some shit.

His biggest strengths are picking the right roles and actually putting in the time necessary for the role. Look at John Wick, an extremely talented actor isn't needed for the part. Those movies are elevated because Keanu actually does most of the action and spends time training with guns.

I think he was perfect for Matrix 1. I think the wachowski's got over confident for 2+3, but Keanu still portrayed Neo fairly well. I anticipate Matrix 4 will have good action, muted dialogue delivery and a boring convoluted plot just like 2 and 3.

Na, he’s a great guy from everything I’ve seen. He seems to be a legitimately good person, which is a rarity in Hollywood, again though, that comment is in direct response to Keanu only doing this because there’s a story that “needs” to be told. I think you hit the nail on the head with what we can expect, but I don’t see any way in hell that the masses needing to hear this story is a driving influence. He gets to be in the franchise that elevated him to new heights all over again, he gets to work with a director he likes and he gets a mountain of cash to do it lol.
