So much this.

Eragorn
Priest (could have been so good)
Harry Potter
The Hobbit, 8 hour long episodes you could have done scene by scene from the book and made a glorious show. Or you could break it into a trilogy of movies and shit all over it.
Ready Player One - The movie was just such dogshit anything would have been better

They had enough time in 3 Hobbit movies to do the story justice, I don't think making it a show would have changed a thing tbh.

I am not sure about Ender's game either if I'm being perfectly honest. I think that's something that needs to be done animated of you want it done properly. Speaker would be a really good story to adapt though.

I do think Ready Player One whole have been better as a show though. You could spend 2-3 episodes on the harder puzzles rather than skimming over everything.

Not really an answer to the question because I think the interstellar movie is great, but I wouldn't mind a mini series that occurs after the movie and shows Cooper and Brand working on rebuilding humanity.

Another half answer is the vast of night. I really really like the movie but I wish it was a show because it would be a fantastic first episode of a new Twilight Zone series. So much better than the abomination Peele created.

World War Z would be good as a show I think, especially if they started up where the books do.

It just needs to be done by someone who isn't more concerned with saying "remember these other movies I made?", instead of telling the actual story you're telling lol. The problem was Jackson and Jackson alone. It's just wishful thinking, but I honestly feel anyone could do a much much better job given a movie or show to do it

Yeah I assumed that we are changing it to a show but keeping the main individuals involved, just giving them more time to tell the story. Which is why I don't think it being a show would have changed anything as the biggest issues with the films were definitely as you mentioned.

Totally understandable if that's the line, but I was thinking completely different direction, since generally movie directors/writers don't do television and vice versa lol.

Yeah, although I think the line between movie stars and tv stars (and every other aspect) is starting to blur more and more these days as tv shows are becoming more like long movies.. which honestly should be the thing. It should be about telling the best story possible. Refusing work simply because it is a movie not a show or vise versa is a bit crazy. Exceptions obviously for the shows that want to be 5-15 seasons and episodic like old tv shows.
