Gotta be one of the most underrated movies to come out during my life, I don't hear many people talk about it but it is fucking amazing.

Besides this, I'd say these ones got me good:

Blue Valentine
Lost in Translation
Two Lovers

and of course one scene (you know which) from Lion King. Have a hard time watching that even today lol.

I don't know if I'd call any move that won multiple major awards and was nominated for multiple Oscars as "underrated". It got TONS of buzz when it first came out and everyone I knew watched it during that time. Plenty of my friends disliked it, but that's because they think movies like John Wick are the pinnacle of movie making lol.

Lost in Translation is a great addition to this thread.

True, it got some critical recognition the year it came out but I just never seem to hear anyone mention it.

Leaving Las Vegas is another good one and one of my favorites. It is a different kind of sad that the others I’ve mentioned though.

Aw shit, I knew there was some other good ones I was missing.

There are a lot of movies worth mentioning. But this one was the first that came to my mind. It just kills me every time. Rouke is outstanding in this one.

Wouldn't say it's underrated. It got 2 oscar nominations, had a budget of 6 mio. and made about 44 mio. so it was comercially successfull. But I don't know if there was a buzz around this movie when it was released.

A few more movies worth mentioning:

Grave of the fireflys
Warrior
Leaving Las Vegas
The Road
The Elephant Man
Shame
Life is beautiful
A Monster Calls

I remember it being like the only thing people talked about for a couple years.

I don't watch many movies but the saddest I watched would have to be "My dog skip". I also watched a clip of a movie called "Hachi: a dogs tale" and try to avoid watching that movie to not become depressed, it's based on true events.

Ye only dog movies get me, I think fluke was another

Agree for The Wrestler.

There is one i would add : Galveston (adapted from a Nic Pizzolatto novel, screenplayer of True Detective S1)
First direction for french Mélanie Laurent, two great performances from Elle Fanning and Ben Foster ... during all the movie, you feel something will turn wrong much more than the rest ...
THIS is an underrated movie imo ! i highly recommand it to you ;)
