It's Christopher Nolan, so you know it'll be good. Only thing I've seen the lead in was Black Klansman, but he was phenomenal in that, so I'm optimistic he'll do great with such a talented director.

I've liked every Nolan movie and loved most of them. I'm super excited for him to do something a little weird again, I feel that's where he excels.

It's close between a few directors, but I personally would say Nolan is the best director of my lifetime.

Nolan is right up there. Especially considering he writes his movies as well. Not all of the top tier directors do that

What makes me put him above the rest, is that all the other absolutely amazing guys have a lane they more or less stay within. This guy can fucking write/direct everything and make it gold. I love Tarantino, but all of his movies feel more or less similar, and Scorsese pretty much does the same exact thing over and over lol. The Departed being the exception, but it was still a mobster movie.

I agree with him being the best of our generation.

He can do it all. Thriller, superhero, war, science fiction, and action.

I don't want to derail this too hard but I just want to toss out that you should see Silence if you haven't. Definitely not a movie for everyone, just because of the religious storyline, but it's an incredible Scorsese film unlike anything he's done since at least 2 decades ago.

And for me, a guy who immediately jumps to mind the way you categorize Nolan, is Paul Thomas Anderson. There's a handful of other guys I'd place in the same league. Cuarón, Fincher, Villeneuve, Iñárritu off the top of my head.

Nolan is consistently very good, though, I agree. I don't love The Dark Knight trilogy or Inception but they're still solid movies. And for me, Dunkirk is one of the greatest films of the decade. I'm excited for anything he makes.

Not many people love Dunkirk for some reason. Everyone I talk to says it was a letdown. In my opinion it is by far Nolan's best work and it is in my top 5 favorite films of all time.

People that don’t like Dunkirk are the same people that think the Fast and Furious franchise is amazing.

Reminds me of 1917, watched it at work and basically everyone hated it and said it was boring. I couldn’t believe it considering it’s absolutely outstanding and deserves many accolades

People are dumb. If there's not lots of kraplow kaboom bang, they think it was boring. People with the attention spans of cocker spaniels should refrain from talking about movies.

Dunkirk was alright but was it as good as the original Fast and the Furious?

I doubt it

I don’t like Dunkirk and I despise The Fast And the Furious series. Dunkirk is just not my cup of tea. I don’t find it very entertaining, just like Once upon a time in hollywood. I admit that both films do well in cinematography and acting. Everything feels natural. However, in my opinion, they are boring movies. I didn’t see 1917, but it’s probably more exciting than Dunkirk. I’ll give it a shot.
