Eh just add some blood a little bit of swearing make story and monsters more dark i think could work. Imo these films arent really targeting younger audiences as much as the old. Their was alot of left open stories and origins from the original show to have alot of material. Show and original movie definately cheesy but awesome haha.

What if it was like "Logan" but in the Power Rangers universe. The kids are mostly dead and the 2 that remain are like 60.

Or what if it was Smallville - pure teen romance flick wrapped in a Power Rangers skin

Or it could be like Batman Beyond, where old, salty retired guys are dragged kicking and screaming into a future where they have to help edgy kids take over the power.

I kinda hope you're joking, but it's hard to tell with you. I don't see any of those scenarios working.

The first was only a mainstream success because it was an established and beloved big screen character and it had AMAZING source material to draw from. Power Rangers has neither of these factors.

The second is what I imagine they'll do and it could find some tween success, but that entire genre seems to be dying as of late. Since Twilight and Hunger Games, none of the others with huge book followings have been able to find success when transitioned to film. This would also be unwatchable, even if it was a financial success.

Like the first, an angle like this requires a foundation of beloved characters, which the Power Rangers are not. Sure, there's at least a small tollowing of people who would be okay with this, but it wouldn't find mainstream success, which would be required for a big budget film like this. Even people like myself that LOVED the Power Rangers as a kid, know how horrible of a show it was.

ok you've pushed me to the brink but I'll reveal my final idea for a reboot angle

They splice old footage + cgi to create a perfect replica of Amy Jo Johnson in her prime, and use this images to create a full scale porn film starring her
