What's really insane is that for a lot of people it is a multi day climb. Notice how he passed the people in portable ledges.

Yeah that’s why I figured it took a long time. Other scenes with other climbs and pictures showed the same thing. So I assumed it was a long process. I have zero knowledge of climbing so I have no idea what’s normal and what isn’t.

He must have been exhausted. For a skinny man, he must have remarkable upper body, core, and grip strength.

Apparently his grip strength is actually pretty shit for a climber, that's why you see him on the that thing he hangs from on his van using only fingers so often. A finger board.

I didn't see him discount anyone's feelings other than hers, tbh. Other people (friends, his mom) were scared for him, but nobody other than Sanni tried to disuade him.

At no point did I perceive Alex to be callous in his decisions. The man has a lofty goal and is willing to sacrifice a lot in attaining it.

Also, just because I dislike Sanni doesn't mean I hate women in general. That's quite a ludicrous claim, bruv. Many of my favorite climbers are women for instance (both in and outside the competitve scene). In fact, I'd be willing to claim that climbing is one of the most egalitarian sports around, both in the acceptance and ability of female athletes.


Edit: for contrast, compare Rebecca's attitude towards Caldwell in The Dawn Wall to Sanni's. I think you'll find a big difference in support.
