We already know the plot but does that mean that it won’t be a good movie? Nah

I’m hype

I want to preface my statements by acknowledging my awareness of being in the minority on this. I'm also in no way trying to insult or demean any of you out there who enjoy these films.

I personally can't understand how/why people are so entranced (hyped) by what I perceive as purposeful pandering to obtain optimal mediocrity. Most of the Marvel movies have been okay at best, with a few outliers in the outright terrible section and an even smaller number being surprisingly good (the first Iron Man for instance). The Avengers films in particular have been underwhelming given what they should be capable of. Civil War, followed by Age of Ultron, are easily two of the worst films from the modern Marvel cinematic universe. If a movie offers no substance beyond it's flashy effects and enormous budget, it is not a good movie.

I'll watch it when it's online for free, or if an irl friend asks me to go with them to the theater. I'm sure it'll be watchable, it may even be enjoyable for a few moments. My main issue is that like the last however fucking many Marvel movies I've seen, I'll leave the theater, or wherever I am, knowing I could have spent the last 2+ hours of my life doing almost anything and it would have been more productive/entertaining, than watching yet another formulaic pander fest that we've all seen 20+ times before this.

Thanos winning was predictable? Doubtful to the majority, non-comic book fans. Also there's a lot more to Age of Ultron than the "flashy effects", you just have to be a nerd.

Iirc there was some study where a group of people were told what would happen in the movie, and the other group was not, the group that knew what would happen enjoyed it more, as they got to see how it unfolded.

He didn't win? They spelled it out from the get go and yes, it was painfully predictable that his plan to eliminate half the people in the universe was going to work, that's why it's a two part finale.... Age of Ultron was terrible and I'm not going to discuss it further, the movie had no redeeming qualities whatsoever and even if it were compared to only Marvel movies, it was painfully bad. It legitimately took me five attempts to get through the entire thing. Being a "nerd" doesn't help you enjoy bad movies, being someone who likes bad movies helps you enjoy bad movies, nothing else. Again, it's cool if you loved Age of Ultron or if you loved Civil War, but It's going to be real tough to take anything you say seriously if you want to spend your time attempting to convince me those were good movies and that I'm simply not nerdy enough to enjoy them....

I understand how Marvel movies entice the average moviegoer, I've got no qualms or misunderstandings about why you enjoy what they do, but I personally can't watch a company make the same movie 20, 30, 50, 100 times over and fucking over. Disney has this shit down to a science and they just follow the same basic as fuck pandertastic formula that puts butts in seats. It's great for making money and keeping a franchise strong, but that doesn't mean the movies are great, or even close to it. They have no substance... the movies are always the same predictable crap with bad/over-the-top acting, predictable and bad one-liners for comedic relief, and forced/pointless dramatic tones that always end in the exact same hunky dory way.

I couldn't find anything on that study and don't feel like getting into the subject until I'm able to see the contents of the research. Seems unrealistic though.

I wish I could enjoy them like the rest of you guys. I'll watch it, I just know I'll be bored out of my mind again and checking my watch by the 45 minute mark, exactly like the last dozen or so Marvel movies I forced myself to watch.

Will be boring, predictable and pointless like the last 15 marvel movies.

Predictable? Obviously, especially if you know the comics.

Did u like lotr or the hobbit series?

85% enjoy the marvel movies, (91% for infinity war). Maybe it’s the other 15% we shouldn’t take seriously

LotR series was great, but the Hobbit trilogy was fucking terrible. The first 30 minutes or so of the first Hobbit movie was enjoyable, but it was all downhill from there. Not sure why Jackson went full retard with that. I've admitted on this one that I could possibly have enjoyed it more if not for the Hobbit being one of my favorite books of all time, but I'm pretty sure I would have still thought it was shit, it just wouldn't bother me as much as it did. Don't even get me started on it though, you'll just respond with "But people liked it" rather than actually addressing all the shit he ruined.

Where are you finding that 85% of all people enjoy Marvel movies lol? Even by using the most insanely optimistic and generous numbers, only maybe 10% of the population has seen these films. Then there's the issue that only maybe .001% of that group took the time to bother writing reviews, and that's what you're basing your numbers on? I'm not surprised that someone debating the greatness of Marvel would resort to using made up statistics, but you realize that doing shit like that strengthens my point, right?

As I've said a million times before, being in the the majority doesn't make something good or great. Time and time again the worst movies, shows, music, products, people etc... are considered the best or most popular, and they usually disappear as fast as they come because they sucked to begin with. Rich people sitting around deciding what's going to be popular for the next 3-6 months and the majority eating it up.

Look at any popular sitcom, TBBT, Two and a Half Men, or any other of the half assed horrendous shit show of mediocrity that's hailed for years as the #1 comedy in America.
Look at how music has become about finding a pretty face, writing songs for it and having them dance around on a stage lip syncing some catchy garbage.
Look at how movies like Fast and the Furious or anything by Michael Bay continue to make hundreds of millions of dollars with each release, even when they're fucking unwatchable.
Look at Apple, an inferior and more expensive product with an outrageously false marketing scheme, that through manipulation of the masses, became a status symbol across the world of success.

I give Marvel credit for being the best at knowing and manipulating their audience, but compared to movies with actual substance, these films are completely hollow and even fans should be able to understand what I'm saying. There's no depth to them at all, there never has been. It's nothing but KRAPLOW!!!!, one-liner, KRAPLOW!!!!!, one-liner, KRAWPLOW KRAWPLOW KABOOM!!!!!!!!! Heartfelt moment, one-liner, hunky dory ending.

The truth is that you and the majority of people on the Earth are easily amused. I know it's not going to change and I'm at peace with how easily influenced you all are. That being said, saying I shouldn't be taken seriously because I enjoy thinking is just :bonk: .

Or if you even kinda paid attention during the last one.... My favorite part was when the movie clearly tells the audience that none of this matters, no one is going to die and that the Avengers are winning by doing this, and then the internet breaks down talking about how hard it was to hold back tears over fictional characters being *dead* for less than a year and it has been flooded with meme after meme of how Star-Lord killed half the universe. It amazes me people like that are even capable of breathing.
