I went back and watched this last night. First time a few years ago I wasn’t impressed. But Damn, that’s a pretty good film. Very underrated.

But his tats are just prison tats, they don’t have any iconic meaning... and his only in 1/4 of the movie

The "JAKE" and "ELWOOD" knuckle tattoos from the Blues Brothers movie are pretty iconic. Same with the "BUCK" and "FUCK" ones from Kill Bill ("My name is Buck, and I came here to fuck"), although to lesser extent.
