That's a strange way to put it. It definitely feels a bit Narnia-ish in some ways. I mean not the overarching ideas of escapism and war that is oddly poinient for a children's book obviously... But I don't really agree with the Harry Potter part. The magicians treats magic a way that feels way more grounded than Harry Potters high fantasy take on it, at least to me.
It actually kind of feels very... Ancient mythology-esque in a way. Like Greek, norse, etc. With adventures that go beyond the normal world (and usually end up getting fucked).
