This is why I put the statement If its affordable (which it surely will not be) in.

As a non-american I'm more concerned with the second part.

Netflix is ahead of the curve. They already have by far the most people used to being subscribed. They are known as an outlet that content creators WANT to work with (it's a great way to get your show watched by many people, there's more leeway with the censors than if you went to cable). They have a rep for making quality originals.

What could Disney do to make people actually pick up an extra subscription? Are they going to add Disney movies onto the streaming service a week after their theater run ends? Are they going to develop a Star Wars original TV with a budget comparable to House of Cards?

If I read correctly, this is only movie content, not series shows.

The article didn't mention that so I assume not. it said :

Netflix said Disney movies will be available through the end of 2018 on its platform. Marvel TV shows will remain.

That makes it sound like their streaming will be only movies, in which case I don't really see any draw for people to sub to that. Now, if they were to stream their movies very quickly after the theatrical run ended, that is something that could get people's attention.

Yeah but I mean it is another important question. Just because the article didn't say it doesn't mean it won't happen. They might do it as a last ditch effort to make their service successful if it ends up failing.
