the grudge was made in 2002 and remade in 2004
the ring was made in 1998 and remade in 2002

[•REC] came out in 2007 in spain, then remade it as Quarantine in the US in 2008.

[•REC] continued on a different path with 3 other movies. Quarantine also had it's own sequel that diverged from the original series, never went anywhere after that.



The grudge (2004) was a remake of Ju-on: The Grudge (2000). The grudge 2 (2006) was the reboot unrelated to the previous stories, but still being considered part of the franchise.
And ju-on technically started with the short films Katasumi and 4444444444 in 1998.

Sleepless (2017) is a remake of Nuit Blanche (2011)

There are a lot more recent obscure examples as well. Lot's of korean movies get quickly remade in China/Japan and viceversa. Same thing happens between countries in Europe or Latin America. Here are some examples:

Confession of Murder (2017, Japan) is a remake of a movie of the same name that was released in South Korea just 4 years ago.

Perfectos desconocidos (2017) is a spanish movie due to be released after the summer that is a remake of the italian movie Perfetti sconosciuti (2016).

Melocotones (2016) is a Dominican remake of the australian movie The Infinite Man (2014).

Qué pena de tu vida (2016, Mexico) is a remake of the chilean movie of the same name released in 2010.
