we can apply the law of diminishing returns to the concept.

as more good movies get produced, the desire to see them decreases...

and then apply the inferior substitute, bad movies, to the equation. As income decreases we want more bad movies (inferior goods) because of our income.

This of course might analyze economic depressions in reference to distribution values towards cinema production (and the fact that it's uniqueness has diminished due to how many good movies already exist.)

Hope that makes sense, feel free to ask any genuine questions about what I said and I will expand.

Nothing to expand, on as none of this makes sense... There has never and will never be a time when I want "more bad movies" or my "desire" to see good movies decreases. There's nothing remotely feasible about this statement to a film enthusiast.

Yeah he doesn't know what he is talking about. Sounds like a college student who just learned a lesson in his economics class that he thought was profound so he wanted to share. The problem is movies aren't regular consumer goods and can't be substituted in to most economic theories.

LOL there isn't a better explanation than this.

Especially when he said " feel free to ask any genuine questions about what I said and I will expand."

no matter how bad the movie is, if it has a big actor in it people will pay to go see it

I could probably name the number of actors on one hand that are an instant watch for me.

A combination of many factors. (makes me sound knowledgeable... )

Major contributor to this in my opinion is the internet and ripping the product and putting it out there for everyone to see without having to go to the movie theatre.
Actors, producers and so forth realise that there won't be much money made as it used to, so they just don't want to give a worthwhile movie just to lose out.

Think about this concept, you create a masterpiece and people reward you for your masterpiece, then what happens, it becomes copied and distributed openly.
What does one do now, continue making masterpieces receiving less and less each time, or just make mediocre standard stuff and reap the same rewards?

It is the same with countries and distribution of things like diamonds and gold, they control the distribution, thus keeping them precious, whereas, with movies,
no one can control the distribution, but again this can be disproved like below.

Another factor could be there aren't many good writers out there anymore, or the fact that every type of scenario has already been portrayed in hundreds of movies,
so anything new can be dissected and criticized more easily and thus movies these days are just crap in our opinions.

Another concept is the fact that we have become desensitized by the fact that everything can be found just using our fingers. Not sure where I was going with this, but,
I think it based around that we will become living zombies when it comes to the events of everything including real life drama.

Didn't read beyond bolded because it is wrong and uneducated. Movie audiences have done nothing but grow. All of the top selling (opening weekend) films have been post-2000. Obviously the early movies like fine with the wind and star wars and shit have huge numbers, but that is from multiple releases over 30+ years. Movies these days only get one release so it is hard to compare by ticket sales unless you want to spend hours on research.

In fact there have even been studies done in the music industry that show popular pirated songs/albums usually have extremely high sales. A lot of people seem ok spending money if they like the product and pirating seems to be a way of product testing more than actually "stealing". You might think that is bullshit because of how you personally do things, but you aren't the majority.
