So, you're looking for just anything with magic in it? Sorcerer's apprentice was pretty bad.... the Fantasia scene alone made it worth watching, but it was just another typical Cage movie.


Here's a small list of movies that I enjoy that focus around magic/tricks etc....

The Illusionist
The Prestige - Christian Bale directed, guy who did Batman, Inception, Interstellar etc..
Willow
The Golden Compass
Narnia - Only watch the first one, the other two are just awful
Lord of the Rings - Don't bother with the Hobbit, check out the book though if you want a quick and thrilling read.

If you just enjoy magic and don't care about the type of movie, check out some Miyazaki movies.

Howl's Moving Castle
Spirited Away
Nausicaa and the Valley of the Wind
Ponyo
& Princess Mononoke

Stranger things

Golden compass is fucking terrible.

If you don't mind animated there are a lot more recommendations that can be made.

The Neverending Story

Anyone see the google front page for it, apparently the book was really epic and writer hated the movie, first was one really good though, old classic

It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't good. It's decent enough for a single watch. Better than that Killing Joke garbage you keep praising.

Tbh. Going over the user lists... Id say there isnt anything like the potter series.

If you want books - eragon, sort of similar.

They made a movie adaptation that was horrible in relation to the books but heh ok watch

Yeah but thats a terrible movie.... I assume when an op requests movies "like" epic potter he must expect the suggestion to be at least be similar and watchable

Once again... OP cited Sorcerer's Apprentice, obviously his standards are not very high. That was a shit movie, but as I said before, the Fantasia scene made it at least watchable.
