I have the ability to separate book from film, video game from film and just judge it for what it is.

But I understand that many people can't and that's completely okay.

It was bad.. the characters were bad, the CGI was bad, the forced love story was bad. Really, everything about it was mediocre at best. They even managed to make Beorn and Gandalf seem like bitches. I'm perfectly capable of separating film from novel, and I can enjoy something that's an entertaining adaption, like I did the 6th HP movie, all of the Lord of the Rings films and others that were drastically far off from the source material. Stay petty though. As you have nothing of merit to actually add to the conversation, all you can do is attack others rofl.

My last comment wasn't meant to insult you in any way.

Saying something is "bad" doesn't add ANYTHING to the conversation, so try to be less hypocritical.

I said in the beginning it was mediocre, but i still enjoyed it because i love the universe of LOTR.

Calm down and read my responses more carefully.

There was no saving grace to the trilogy.... all of the characters were poorly portrayed. Gandalf as a weak uncertain man is laughable, he's a fucking God. Bilbo as a psychotic little shit who was obsessed with the rings power was idiotic... why try to sell the LOTR trilogy when you've already finished it? The entire time they did nothing but pander... hey, remember these three movies we did, they were awesome right? Lets just dwell on those for another three movies instead of trying to create a thrilling story that doesn't revolve around the fucking ring. So many missed opportunities, so many forced relationships, poorly done and unnecessary GGI and a poorly written adaption of something that could have been great.

So much fail in this series, it's not even funny.

Thank you for actually providing detail. Regardless, I still highly enjoyed them because I enjoy the universe. You don't have to agree, and you won't. Like I said, I separate it from the book, no matter what.

Warcraft is much less widely known than the hobbit. The movie looks like it is following the storyline it should be and not changing Warcraft lore too much. How closely they stick to source material will decide how much Warcraft fans like it, the general public though... Who knows.

For the hobbit the general public were aware of the story already, so it is a lot different than Warcraft.

I wouldn't necessarily say that. Yes, The Hobbit has been around for a LONG time and it's popular literature.

But warcraft has been around for 22 years with many variations and dozens of millions of players over time (i'm actually curious how many people in the world have subscribed to Wow at least once, I would imagine over 100 million).

People who don't play video games still know of the game. They know it as "that game people poor their lives into."

pretty hype to see it, but i don't think it's going to do all that well.
i really hope i'm wrong, because there is so much incredible lore to build future films on. won't happen if this flops though.
arthas and the scourge movie i would see like 500 times.
that said, i think it's entirely possible that it is better received critically but makes a tiny fraction of the money that the hobbit did.

Lol, yeah well that's what happens when you try to turn a stand alone novel into 3 separate 3 hour long movies that ridiculously deviate from the original story line.

OK who knew I had to specify, really outdone yourself today.

The number of people that know the hobbit story > the number of people that know the Warcraft story.

The Warcraft story started looking before world of Warcraft. The number of people who played Warcraft from the very start wc1 is most likely <100,000 (just a guess).

But the hobbit is a book that is taught in schools and most people have read it at least once. Plus the majority of people who have subscribed to wow don't give a shit about the lore, let alone lore that happened before there mmo started.
