Everything Carpenter made was awesome, The Thing is truly one of his best movies.

yup, they are lame
haven't seen but vampires and village of the damned remake are probably bad too

Heard that they are realy bad but haven't seen them for myself. Overall I think his filmography is pretty decent, considered that he mostly had a pretty low budget for his films and wasn't loved in Hollywood.
