I think imdb has the worst rating system out there tbh and commenting on the threads offers about as much insight as youtube commenters do.

IMDB discussion is great if you browse the boards for artfilms. On R/movies there's no worthwhile comments beause the upvote system only allow for discussion of popular stuff.

Nah its fine for movies in general imo, it's pretty well moderated regarding spoilers. I enjoy the variety in topics over there - it's better than "recommend me some movies or TV shows" - the recent Darth jar jar theory that went viral was entertaining and I particularly enjoy the IAmA threads.

Anything specific you want to discuss will likely have its own subreddit. Whether it's a movie/actor/director.

Well yeah. No site is going to be THE site that suits everyones interest, there's strengths and weaknesses with every site and which one you chose comes down to which type of films interest you I think. ^^
