That movie does look incredibly boring tho.

Personally, Malick is very near the top of my favorite directors list.

But, he's also a director that I know is very polarizing among cinephiles, and he's someone I would not try to argue for or defend to someone who dislikes him.

Anyway, Knight of Cups is probably his weakest film but still a good film in my eyes. It's also probably the worst starting point for Malick (as I said earlier)... he's gotten even more abstract as he gets older.

Malick is a visionary and his target audience is not people looking for generic films, it's as simple as that. Malick doesn't make conventional films and because he doesn't compromise with his art he alienate alot of people. It's not snobbery, it's a fact.
You have shown many many times on this forum that you are extremely closeminded when it comes to cinema and thus, the only thing you accomplish by saying it looks boring is proving my point.

Went into wanting to like the flick but it really had no redeeming qualities.

Oh please. NO redeeming qualities... I fully understand someone absolutely hating the film, so you undervalue everything it has to offer. But to tell me the visuals did NOTHING for you.... idk.

You quite frankly picked the absolute worst person to call closedminded.

Everyone here knows I watch just about anything. It takes a lot for me to say I don't like something.

I'm probably even gonna end up watching this. But it's one of those where I have a strong feeling I won't like it. And that does NOT happen often.
