It's just going to be a 2 hour WoW cinematic, and that's what a lot of people want so that's cool. I don't think I would ever bother watching it myself, even stuff like Guardians of the Galaxy felt just like a giant video game cinematic to me, but loads of other people still like it, so whatever.

Well if they made it like the original LOTR trilogy with practical effects, real equipment, real makeup etc it would be way better and of course way more expensive.

LOTR is by far the most popular thing in this genre but noone is willing to copy the stuff that works in those films because they cost too much money, it's pretty sad.

sad because it costs a lot of money, or sad because people won't do it because it costs a lot of money?

Remember, making movies is for entertainment, but it's business first.

I don't know what he meant by 'sad'. But for business reasons as you said, LOTR has basically set the ceiling for this genre. It's disappointing for audiences knowing it's not very realistic to hope that something better could eventually come along.

medieval fantasy/fantasy is a tough genre to sell to. Unless you have a HUGE franchise as LOTR is, it will always be difficult to compete because it's a niche genre. Big title names tend to draw crowds that usually don't support that particular genre.

The positive thing blizzard has with warcraft is an incredible amount of lore. Most medieval fantasy movies have a very bland/cliche plot, nothing really jumps out to be spectacular or different in a positive way. Warcraft, this movie, it's plot is pretty generic from the trailers, but I hope it leads to many movies because of all the lore available.

I'm not critizising the studios, of coruse it's bussiness first for them. All i'm saying is it's sad situation we have on our hands when most people can agree LotR trilogy is vastly superior to Hobbit trilogy but all the studios want to do is make more Hobbit films. I'm not blaming them i'm just saying, as a fan it's not what I want to see.

Lol, I just called it that because it's the most recent one, so prettiest cinematics. I really don't care which game the Warcraft lore for the film most closely aligns to.
