No, sharing original cast doesn't automatically make it a trilogy, but it's a very, very common similarity.

The first three Jurassic park movies are still considered trilogies even with the additional Jurassic world movie.

Just like, the new Star Wars trilogy being released into theaters over the next several years still doesn't change the other two trilogies that exist.

All movies have "endings" but that doesn't mean new material can't be created.
