Only three horror films get a rating above 8 / 10 from me.

The Beyond, The Thing and Suspiria.

The Beyond for it's atmosphere and gore, Suspiria for it's cinematagraphy and music and The Thing for inducing claostrophobia and paranoia.

Suspiria is the only film i had nightmares from. Thought The Ring was pretty creepy as well.

But for something a bit different I'd say Tetsuo:the iron man

I wouldn't call that horror as such.

Hellraiser

As for The Thing, I remember when that movie came out, there was a local theater that ran ads in the paper offering women $100 if they could sit through the entire screening, at a midnight showing, while being the only person in the theater. Don't know how many made the $100.

The Thing was made 3x, which one did you like the best? I love the Kurt one but I kinda like the last one too.

No one has mentioned The Shining or Rosemary's Baby - which were pretty great but not the scary horror kind - more like the thriller horror kind.

Another film I loved was Idle Hands with Jessica Alba, that was pure ridiculous comedy horror and Evil Dead 2 which was gore Horror with lots of comedy, but both were pretty awesome.
