God dammit, I had managed to blank out every scene containing NPH.

Not a great casting choice

I agree, but the way that scene was shot was incredible.

I thought the movie was excellent........

I first saw it in the movie theater having no knowledge about any of the plot, so the 'big twist" really came at me.

The acting was good, the script was good, it was a good length ( longer movies are typically better) and a complete mind-fuck.

I liked the ending, I think it could have gone in a different direction BUT it significantly continued the mind-fuck.

I definitely wouldn't put the "mindfuck" tag on it.

why not?

I am solely basing this off of the movie, not the book.

the premise of the movie is "what are you thinking" and that alone is a mind-fuck.

By the end of the movie, the audience is left with a painful, extraordinary curiosity of whether or not his wife is going to try to kill him again. He will never again trust her.

The movie does a complete 180 flip from showing her being abused and scared of her husband, to him being scared of his wife.

If those thoughts don't mess with minds, I don't know what does, ESPECIALLY in a relationship.

Yeah I guess. I think it's just because I really hate the term "mindfuck" and every movie with a twist gets called that.

I even hate the word twist now. It's a psychological thriller, they all have twists.
