To be fair theatre experience is almost always worth it if you got a somewhat stable income, I try to watch as much as possible in theatres.

Highlight of last year moviewise for me was probably watching Three Colors: Blue in the theatre. Best 8 Euros ever spent.

personally...

If gathering to watch things on a big screen in a public place was free but you had to pay to take it home, i'd pay to take stuff home or not watch it at all

I find that a bit odd but to each his own of course, there are definitly some benefits to home viewing but I think theatre is overall better for me.

ok w8

travel time to get there
uncomfortable seats
theatre is always too hot
have to be quiet
cant pause/rewind the show at my discretion
hassle sneaking my own snacks in (at home i can cook or w/e no problem)
risk bumping into someone i know at the theater in my town

Buying the movie is a better financial decision than going to see it in the theater.

but also if you pay $15 for a movie ticket you could have seen for free, then you are robbing yourself of $15

so if the viewing experience is worth $15 (market value) then robbing yourself of the theater experience cancels out with the $15 you didnt rob yourself of

either way you do it, you break even on the self-robbery analysis

I don't agree with your analysis. 15 bucks is nothing, money is nothing. A highly enjoyable life experience is priceless.

how come everyone in the country doesn't dump their whole paychecks on movie tickets then?

the open market has set the value of the experience at $10-15

where the HECK are you going lol. theater too hot? literally EVERY SINGLE theater I've been to is on the cold side, every single time.

Also, the place I usually go to has motorized reclining, fucking sofas basically. It's way better than my home furniture.

Now I still generally prefer viewing anything in my home, but I can also generally get total privacy and silence when I want to... some people have more distractions in their home. But certain movies I feel like seeing in the theater and I always enjoy the experience, and I don't do it that often.

So I know people who watched a shitty cam version of Avengers 2 before seeing it in the theatre. I think this robs them of the unique experience of seeing it for the first time on the big screen as it was meant to be seen.

I can't imagine it's as gripping seeing the city lifted into the sky on a shitty picture. My jaw dropped at the shot over Iron man's shoulder watching buildings crumble and topple in glorious IMAX 3d. They can never have that experience of not knowing what is going to happen and being blown away by gorgeous CG.

I also think it's morally wrong to rip off someone else's work as well as destructive to the movie industry. Don't complain about investors and studios not wanting to gamble on different ideas if you're not willing to pay for the end product. If you want more original ideas to get off the ground there needs to be profit.

Honestly have not watched this movie. I can not afford to go the the cinemas to watch it, I don't watch cam rips of movies either [exceptions are made etc]. Personally, I can NOT afford to go to overpriced cinemas to watch it in full quality... but.... I will view a crap version [99% of the time it is good quality] before even paying for it at the cinemas... or I just wait and rent it out on vid... simple.

Keep up with your morals... but anything shared is free... just like a parent providing room and food for their child to survive and grow... humans choose their paths to provide for their own, and if entertainment is not provided, they make their own... what that environment or experience to appease their own enjoyment can be anything, whether it fits in our ethical beliefs and culture, or their own that goes against ours... thus relating in debate and escalating to wars of destruction to BILLIONS of human life etc.
