Some remakes make sense, some remakes even need to be done.

This though...

I think it's cultural nature to like an original movie. Once a remake is made, people tend to have an automatic hatred towards it because it's not what they originally liked.

This happens in music too. A band creates a couple albums that have a similar sound, while drawing a fanbase based on that particular sound. Then the band decides they want to go in a new direction and most people aren't adaptive to change and dislike it.

The most horrific thing about remakes is that people don't have the ability to at least give the movie a fair chance. No matter how good an original is, it can be remade, and it's at the decision of the director to take, and interpret it through the minds for better or for worse.

And example is the original hulk movie. The consensus was that it sucked horribly, a remake was made, and the consensus was that the remake was much better.

You're still stuck on theoretical when facts remain that for every successfull remake you can name I can 20 bad and uneccessary ones.
Remakes are in many cases worse in every possible way, disliking them have most of the time nothing to do with the viewers relationship to the original film it's just common sense and good taste to not swallow lazy cashcow baits.

You're missing my point.

You're judging a movie before it comes out and giving it negativity before personally viewing it solely based on the fact that it is a remake. That's not being a fair moviegoer.

Like I said, I'm not saying all remakes are successful but they do exist.

Also, don't confuse remakes with reboots and prequels/sequels that are created many (even decades) years later.

And I'm not stuck on theory, it's practical, rational, societal observation.

a movie that doesn't need a remake is getting a remake makes sense...

a movie good enough that it doesnt need a remake is first in line to get a remake. the shitty movies that need to be fixed don't get remade

In general, I don't have a problem with remakes.

It allows the ability to reimagine a movie with modern technology.

It allows younger viewers to have an interest in seeing it where they may not have an interest in seeing the original or didn't even know about it. After seeing a remake, it could spark a desire to see the original.

Hollywood is a business and I understand that.

With over 100 years of movies, I do believe it gets more challenging creating original ideas.

Disclaimer:

I am not saying all remakes are successful, but if it looks okay, I will give it a fair chance and not automatically bash it because it's different than the original.

Finding criterias that let you decide before you watch a film if it's gunna be worthwhile or not is necessity in todays cultural landscape, wether if be checking IMDB ratings, listening to certain crtics, youtube reviewers, going by Directors etc. Everyone is doing it and everyone should be doing it.

Almost no-one goes to the goodwill shop, grabs a random VHS and goes home and watch it, filtering out terrible films iis absolutely crucial to having a good time watching film in this day and age and one of the surest signs of something being a complete waste of time is that it's a Hollywood remake of a foreign production.

I've seen enough shitty remakes of good films that didn't need to remade to know that i'm better off ignoring them alltogether instead of going through tons and tons of shit to find the odd one out.

You're still missing my very specific point......

You don't need to explain movie filtering to me.
