can easily win best picture this year

Exactly this was my feeling too after watching it, expected way more from it but as it was not an action movie I might call it alright overall.

Are people opposed of watching a drama/war movie.......?

I guess it's easier to understand if you're American.

As a European, I had a really hard time distinguishing in intent from characters and director. Certain stereotypes that are prevalent in media we see daily are seen in this film, but since I'm not American I don't know whether I should take it seriously. The Bible-reading, bullriding, truck driving manly man who hunts with his dad is so alien to us that we have a hard time taking it seriously.

Other than that, I guess it wasn't bad. Not Oscar material, but not bad. 7/10.

I tried to watch it. Early on they showed that he basically joined the army because of 9/11. I stopped watching then. Shit was dumb.

I didnt say it was not realistic. I said it was a dumb as hell so i turned it off. It amazes me that people think we were attacked because they hate our freedoms or something. We have had military bases in the middle east for decades before 9/11. Of course they attacked us. If china set up shop here in the states for a few decades dont you think we would take action? Dumbest shit ever.
