From the rumors I've heard, they want to focus on the First War and Tides of Darkness to better explain the background for WoW and WC3.

This makes sense because:

1) Most of the story is there, but WC1 & 2 were limited by the hardware of their time. Blizzard can flesh things out in a familiar setting.

2) Not every WarCraft fan has played the first two. The story would be new to them, but give them a WoW fix.

3) They can appeal to people who haven't played any games in the series.

That being said, it will still probably suck.

give me a 2 hour continuation of any cgi trailer blizzard has ever made and i will be there at midnight.

Blizzard has tons of fantastic lore to use i cant see it being too bad.
If nothing else the visuals will be stunning.
