I guess they are basing it on speed and what they saw in the Oberyn fight, but people should be aware that in the books Tyrion describes The Mountain as shockingly fast for his size :/ - its highly unlikely that he'd lose the Khal in whatever hypothetical circumstantial match up people come up with.

The Viper would have instantly destroyed Drogo, guy was 10x the warrior Drogo was and he still couldn't handle the Mountain.



Drogo wouldn't be tall enough to reach his mouth......

Oberyn had the Mountain beat. He could have killed him at any moment during the fight but he wanted him to confess the murder of his sister.

Coulda been, shoulda been. It doesn't matter. It's still stupid to compare either of those fighters to Drogo, the guy was a chump who couldn't even stay alive after a single combat match with a nobody lol.

Drogo was a beast, he was khal for a reason...

the show doesn't do the mountain justice, he is an absolute beast of a man with speed, power and experience on his side.

Basing my opinion off the show and what little I've heard about the books, it's pretty easy to base it off what's been shown in the show though. It would be a battle of pure strength/experience if you put the Mountain and Drago against one another. the Mountain is stronger, faster, more experienced and heavily armored. The two aren't even in the same realm of skill, Drago would get slaughtered. I'm not sure why everyone loves him so much, he led a bunch of savages and sold out for a pretty white woman lol.
